Terms & Conditions of Booking

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before making a booking: By paying our deposit you are accepting our Terms and Conditions
1. While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of all information. Scotland Hostels Group does not accept liability for any errors or omissions and reserves the right to change information.
2. All accommodation costs, meals and chargeable extras must be paid by the timescale detailed on your invoice. Please note that the majority of  groups are required to pay 2 months prior to arrival.  If the full payment is not received by the due date on your invoice your booking is subject to immediate cancellation and all deposits paid are non-refundable. Please note that  in the case of errors or payment not being received we do reserve the right to recover any balance due even after departure.

If you make a reservation less than 1 month before your arrival date the credit card will be charged in full. Where you book more than a month in advance details of your final payment due date and available methods of payment are provided on your Invoice which was issued on Confirmation of your Booking.

4. Arrival, Departure and Check in.  Our Reception area’s are normally open for check in from 12 noon until 9pm.  Check-out time is on, or before, 10.00 a.m. on the date of departure. We will try to be as flexible as possible while still ensuring the smooth running of the hostel.  Please contact us if you need to check in outwith the normal reception hours.
5. Photo identification is required at check in for all guests. The accepted forms of ID include a valid passport, ID card or Photo Drivers Licence. Groups of more than 8 persons may be subject to a refundable security deposit of £20 per person. This can be paid by credit card hold or Cash.
6. Guests under the age of 18 years of age must stay in a private room shared exclusively by own group or with guardians/Leaders. They cannot share in general rooms with persons that are not part of their own group or family.
7. We offer the following chargeable per person extras. – Breakfast £6, 2 Course evening meal £12, Return Airport  Transfers £11

We make every effort to accommodate you in the dormitory/Room size of your choice. However, because of the nature of our business, we may on occasion have to place you in a different sized dormitory/Room.
9. If you encounter an issue with your stay, meals or chargeable extras we will do our best to make it right as quickly as possible. We do not offer refunds under any circumstances but where possible we will move you to a new hostel, restaurant etc if we are not able to resolve any issues to your satisfaction. Any problems must be confirmed by e-mail to reservations@edinburghhostels.com or telephone 0131 202 6107 immediately during your stay.  We cannot make things right if we are not informed of any problems.
 
Cancellations And amendments
1. All cancellations or changes must be confirmed by e-mail to reservations@edinburghhostels.com or telephone 0131 202 6107.
2. Should you, for any reason, wish to cancel your booking, please advise us as soon as possible.
3. All payments made whether transfers, deposits or final balance payments are immediately non refundable and non transferable to other bookings under any circumstances. This applies to any initial deposits as well as any subsequent or final balance payments made irrespective of when they are paid. We will endeavor to accommodate date changes but this would be subject to availability.
Force Majeure
Scotland Hostels Group cannot accept any liability where the hostel booking cannot be fulfilled due to circumstances which we could not, even with due care, have foreseen or avoided. Such events may include, but are not limited to, war, threat of war, civil commotion or strife, hostilities, strikes or other industrial dispute, natural disaster, fire, act of God, terrorist activities, technical problems with buildings, transportation, closures of airports, ports and/or ferries, quarantine, epidemics, weather conditions, government action or other events outside our control.

For other unforeseen internal operational reasons, Scotland Hostels Group may occasionally be forced to change or cancel hostels reservations. In such cases, every effort will be made to contact you in advance, using the contact details supplied at the time of booking or during any subsequent communication. In such cases, no surcharge will be made where customers are required to be relocated to a different hostel or alternative accommodation.

Modification of These Terms And Conditions
Scotland Hostels Group reserves the right to change these Terms as well as the contents of this website for any reason and without notice, and without liability to you, any other user or any third party. This right shall not affect the Terms accepted by you upon making a legitimate reservation or purchase using this website. You should check these Terms for any changes each time you access the website.
 
Additional Information
1. Bedding: All bed linen is supplied
2. Animals: No animals are allowed on the premises with the exception of guide dogs.
3. Fire Regulations: Guests are required to familiarise themselves and comply with all fire regulations and evacuation procedures at the property where they are staying. Any malicious activation of fire alarms will result in a penalty being incurred.
4. Smoking: Please note that on 26th March 2006 a ban on smoking in public places in Scotland came into force. This means we operate a non-smoking policy throughout the premises.
5. Insurance & Personal Property: Please ensure you insure your personal effects, as Scotland Hostels Group cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property.
