The
Highlights
Day 1: Edinburgh to Lewiston, near Loch
Ness
Starting the day with great views from the Forth Road Bridge, we make
our way north to walk in the Hermitage Forest in Perthshire with mature
forest and waterfalls. After exploring the Pass of Killiekrankie near
Pitlochtry where the Jacobite Rebellion began, we'll wind our way through
the stunning mountain scenery before arriving on the banks of Loch Ness
for a spot of monster hunting.
Our base for tonight is the Loch Ness Backpackers in Lewiston, a great
wee hostel within walking distance of a few lively local pubs as well
as the infamous shores of Loch Ness!
Day
2:
Lewiston to Uig
This
morning we'll enjoy a superb seafood and seal cruise. Afterwards it's
'over the sea' to Skye for a laid back day exploring this world famous
Scottish Island! Lots of short walks, history, myths and folklore will
fill your day with wonder as we explore the best of this truly magical
island. Tonight we spend in Uig on the far northern tip of the Isle of
Skye. There'll be time for a wee local beer in a wee local pub this evening!
Day 3: Uig to Spean Bridge
This morning we slowly make our way to the South of the Island to catch
the ferry back to the mainland. With a chance to catch a glimpse of a
dolphin or perhaps some seals with an outstanding mountain background,
it's a stunning journey! This afternoon we'll explore the white sands
of Morar and Arisaig, perfect for a game of football, before enjoying
a short walk in Glenfinnan to take in Loch Sheil, the Jacobean history
and, of course, the viaduct from Harry Potter's Hogwarts Express!! This
evening we stay at Ranalds Rest. On the banks of Loch Lochy, it's the
perfect spot for a BBQ in the Highland atmosphere.
Day 4: Spean Bridge to Edinburgh
Today
is a superbly relaxed day making our way slowly back to Edinburgh. With
great walks in Glen Nevis and Glencoe to waterfalls and viewpoints, amazing
history with William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, not to mention Rob
Roy and the Glencoe Massacre plus a visit to the adorable Hamish, it will
leave you with the best memories of Scotland!
We
will return to Edinburgh at about 6:30pm.
